Did some hook and line/dives in 100-110 way north of our usual spots. The beeliner/blackfish bite was definitely hot. Dove the spot to find only a few gags and lobsters but not much else. Same thing for the next 3 drops. Couple of fish and 7-8#lobs per dive. Found one 8 pound lob walking in the open towards me. Held my breath and stretched out my upturned hand and the sucker walked right onto my hand.. Gotcha! Those damn bug tamer bags are friggin useless for these lobs. Every bug i caught Sunday would not fit through the opening. Not exactly crushing it but we put fish in the boat. Got a nice mahi to the boat that will get to fight another day. I think something was wrong with the gaf. ;) umm catch and release right?

Last spot of the day was a new converted loran spot we have not tried before. Captain sent me over the side to check it out with a partial tank and wouldnt you know it... fish everywhere. I don't know what the hell was wrong with me that day but I could't stone a fish to save my life! Lots of good ARS and gags, spineys, and slipper lobs. Had to let several lobsters go that were full of berries. The crew on the boat spotted one of my red snapper that pulled the shaft on top of the water floating. Bastards told me they caught it rod and reel.  We did not see the first hogfish between 3 divers. Thermocline starts at about 40' with a hazy layer from 40-60' but nice and clear below that.

Not a banner day but got had a box full of fish and a great day on Slay Ride.

Newbie shot his first grouper! A 20 1/8" scamp!

Those new fins didn't throw off your shot did they?;)

I don't know what the deal was. Aim was just plain off. every shot was either a bad meat shot or a miss. Even lost my first freeshaft of the year.

No stone? Probable a tired band, a bent shaft, or a bent fluke! Most likely a tired band!

The best bag we've found to hold our bugs is a one handed opening bag. It will hold up to about 4 or 5 depending on size and is pretty secure. We get em from Trident but they also show up on Ebay occasionally. Let me know and I'll send you pics and Trident's item no.
Yall running this weekend?

Hey Spearit throw a pic up here on the board or a link to their site, I'd love to have one of those things.

Was all in all a good trip, I'm definately starting to feel alot more comfortable in the water and with the gun. Went ahead and took the training wheels off and went with two freeshafts and no line, wow what a difference! Took two Tautogs along with the scamp, can't wait to taste the Tautog, from what I've heard the Yankees love 'em and say they taste like red snapper.

Tom, I think we may be shooting tomorrow (wed).

Kevin, brand new band. One thing I did notice was the rhino coating rubbed off the top right side of the track about 8-12" up from the mech. Could the back of the shaft be whipping? It couldn't possibly be operator error. :) :)
