I just got a new S.S. teak commercial gun.:D :D :D
As suggested by several members of the board, I wisper sweet nothings to it and sleep with it nightly.
Other than that, what suggestions do you have for keeping her looking good & operating smoothly?
I know I need to oil the shaft down after every dive. (My favorite part :D ) And keep the trigger mechanism lubricated, but how often does it need a good teak oil rub down?
Any other suggestions?

What you need to do to make the gun look new is use oil and sandpaper to take out the scratches and rough adges your gun will develop over time. Make sure you buy several different grains and use the lightest one possible. There are also two types of oils and if you check it out, Riffe sells a teak care kit that comes with all the things you need and the oils too.

I use the Riffe teak oil kit and it works pretty good, It doesn't take much on a paper towel or clean rag to wipe a whole gun down, but I'm going to run out much sooner than I expected. Seems like every time I open a bottle of oil to wipe a gun down one of the kids comes in and tries to oil our wood floors by knocking the bottle over  . As soon as I run out of the Riffe oil I'm going to try boiled linseed oil from the local hardware store. It works real well on wood tool handles so it should work fine on a wood gun, but it might change the color of the wood.

You might try teak oil from a marine supply store.
