I live in Biloxi, MS and normally just fish alot. I have never spearfished before but I do dive however I usually go over toward Destin and have not made a dive in Mississippi waters. I was wondering if anyone here has ever spearfished or even made out of Mississippi? If so, how is the visibility? I know that to be able to see good at the surface you have to go pretty far off shore, 40 miles or so to be able to see decently but I do not know if the water clears up as you get down a little. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Look up Rigdvr on this site, he goes out of Biloxi all of the time.
Water varies, good fish though.

Nah, no good diving here...not even worth trying out.;) Seriously though, we have great hunting. Most of it starts about 40 miles out depending on your port of call. I know some who dive the modules closer to shore with some decent results. Wrecks worth diving can be found in FH-13 closer and FH-7 a little further offshore. We hunt the horseshoes regularly and thats a 70 mile run or so out of Biloxi. The shallowfield edges hold good snapper and its only about 50 miles.
Vis is another subject...it can be awesome or horrible. Depends on a ot of factors such as wind speed and direction as well as the height of the Mississippi which can push dirty river water out of the marsh. Often the murky surface waters will clear with depth.
Good luck and let me know if I can be of any help.
