Here we go again - HOLD YOUR BREATH!!!
Announcing another great tournament by our friend Dennis Haussler:
:thumps: :thumps: :thumps: :thumps: :thumps:
Next years World Cup Invitational is June 21-25 2010, and it promises to be better than the last 4, with great divers, international competition, BIG fish, outstanding service at Palapas Ventana, TOP prizes, and CASH!!!!!
We have Australia, Brazil, Florida ( which is its own country ) :), GR Tarr, Mark Healey, Mike McGuire, Chris Woods, Max Grandin, and a host of others from all over the country attending, trying for that cash prize, and having a great time!
If you haven't caught this meet in the magazines, its THE premier international bluewater tournament in the world. Now in its 5th year, I continue to work to get the best sponsors, and a good cross section of divers from seasoned vets, to beginners in the big game world of blue water hunting.
I have included some pics of the past comps, and the word file for this years meet. If you have questions, please contact me at dennis@20fathoms.com, and I'll do what I can to answer them.
See ya in La Ventana!!
Best Regards
Dennis Haussler

Get Ready divers
Hola from Palapas Ventana in Southern Baja
no swine flew, no drug violence, warm blue water and fish
leave your flops on the sand and they are there when you return
We are less than a month away from this years World Cup and we are stoked
weve got the FAD buoys in and soaking and have already caught dorado on them - they collect more small bait fish daily - the buoys are rigged with high tech Mexicanada flasher systems - see photos
current surface temp here = 76-78 F with a thermocline starting at 30-40 feet of 3-5 degrees
Wahoo are here on both ends of the island - one day good, next day gone -- Dorado are moving in reliably - especially out in front close - look for those diving frigate birds - Amberjack are here and there are some big ones around - look in the colder murkier water 35-50 feet down especially under green jacks - we sighted 8 striped marlin yesterday and threw our spearos in 3 times with them but just couldnt get the shot - but the probability is there - all about time in the water - vis is 30-60 and winds are lightening daily with a very light forecast expected for the next 5 days after 2 days of wind that just passed - and the negra modelo on tap......about 33 degrees with lime on the rim -- GET STOKED for WORLD CUP 2010!!

Well,
I'm out of here tomorrow morning, all the goods are packed, shirts made, trophies done,,,,,, now its just about getting thru mexican customs without hitting the redlite!!
Heres the updated flyer done by amadeo bachar, with all the sponsors showing. I am waiting for 1 of the new sponsors to make good on theyre agreement, but hopefully they will come thru.
The plaques for this year were done by Jeremy and Jessie at Rustworks, www.rustworks.com, and they came out totally bitchin!!
I will post some pics of them after I pick them up this AM.
Thanks to all who are supporting this years event, its going to be a champions game. We have some real talent coming from down florida way,,,,,,, think Tarr, Guerra, Sanchez, Nesbitt, Laptau, and Troy Lonefin Williams from Guam is coming with Ron Laguanna. Its going to be good!!
Chris Woods from AU, Danny Raffe colorado, Brock Kennedy norcal, and a bunch more.
Keep a watch on this site, I'll try to update.

Heres the plaques made by the boys at Rustworks in san carlos. These shots don;t do them justice, I will show them again after we get down there.
The gold one is for tim at palapas, then 1st thru 3rd, and big fish. Oh yeah, made one for jerry guerra as silver sponsor.

Dennis
You need to keep an eye on the FL crew. GR hasn't drank since he blew up Sanchez's dock on his Bday, and Guerra has been celibate for a couple of months. I'd be careful if you are in the water with them

No more reports? how is the torunament going?
dennishaussler
06-23-2010, 07:34 PM
report,,,,,,,,,
2 days comp, lots of amberjack, decent wahoo, good roosters, misc milkfish, toro, dorado, sierra, lots of marlin and sailies around, but none landed.
Sasa Bratic is in first place as of today, gary sanchez 2nd, 3rd ron laguanna, 4th dennis haussler, 5th jerry guerra.
GR has a bad ear infection, and has not been able to dive beyond 10ft, so him and brian are swimming the entire inside face of cerralvo, looking for jacks and roosters.
Took the kids, wife and whitneys family out today, got close to 2 sperm whales out in the channel, jumped in, kicked like hell, but could only get close enough to watch its tail for awhile, then it got tired of having me on its flank, and dove.
Pretty cool, never seen sperms before.
I will update with pics on fish as soon as they get downloaded.
tomorrow, back to the game!!

unnoficial announcment,,
Chris Woods from AU has won the 5th world cup invitaitonal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THe rest will be announced as soon as I can.
Today was unbelievably slow,,,,,,,,,, water turned over,,,, green and dirty,,, and NO fish around.
Where we found marlin, sailies, AJ yesterday, was a wasteland.
Everyone dove theyre asses off, and most saw nothing.
Keith Love cracked a HUGE AJ, 89lbs and change, which will run him up in the standings alot.
Great meet, tons of fun, excelllent crew,,, and tim and his crew did an unbelievable job taking care of business!! Muchas Gracias Todos amigos!!!
Full report later, got to setup the prize table, and relax a bit.
