Fletch and I finally got my 14' Kaboat out for her maiden voyage. Yesterday was one of those days when you really appreciate being out on the water. Close to 90 deg air temps, sunny, and just an all around incredible day to be outside. When we hopped in we were stoked to find 10-15 vis. We started out searching for some keeper fluke and boated two. We then decided to take advantage of the nimble stealth fighter sea warrior the Kaboat really is and went in search of some stripers... The Kaboat handled the swift currents effortlessly and got us right on the X to drop on some bass. Fletch's first drop to check vis found him face to face with a couple 25 pounders with his gun still safely aboard the bow of the boat!! Being the selfless spearo he is, he insisted I grab my gun and hop in to hopefully get a shot at one of the keeper stripers swimming just beneath him.. I dropped in and put a perfect shot on a nice 34" bass. This is where things get a little more interesting.... I hand up the striper to Fletch and then jump in the boat. The bass still has the spear shaft through his head and while I am braining him it gives one last FU to the world turning its head and jabbing the tip of the spear shaft right into the side of the boat :slap: Fletch (always thinking on his toes) yells "pull it out!!" Thankfully cooler heads prevailed and I left the shaft in place carefully sliding the bass free of the shaft and putting it safely into the cooler.
Lesser (or smarter) men would have high tailed it for dry ground but there was still plenty of daylight left, plenty of fight left in the Kaboat, and still bass beneath us so I told Fletch get back in and get another one in the cooler!! :gun:
We dove for another hour or so and then started to lose daylight and headed back to the truck...
The Kaboat was a real warrior. Impaled with a 7mm shaft and she still held herself together well enough for us to dive for a couple more hours and get back to the truck safely!!
All in all this was one of the better days I have had on the water. Hopefully this will be the first of many stories derived from a day on the mighty Kaboat.
I will end quoting Intaug after hearing of our adventures
"Kaboat will be a topic of discussion for many decades"
Oh, and if you are comfortable in the water but don't own a kayak, my "fleet" is now up to (3) kayaks. Let me know.
My brother caught a large fluke this weekend, 11lb 11 oz, its a sick looking fish, and will make an awesome print.

Are there any art supply shops on Long Island that carry this specialty rice-paper? I've used newsprint and canvas before with tog and it came out pretty good, but I'd like to try the real stuff. Also I'd like to make the prints ASAP (tomorrow), so I can eat the fish (still packed on ice), I figured an online order would take too long.

Thanks!

A friend of mine is looking to get a new wetsuit for diving. He's been looking at the brown camo Mares pure instinct wetsuit, but he cant seem to find a site that wil ship it to New Jersey. Most websites have a footnote stating that Due to the Mares new regulations relating to distribution, we are not allowed to ship some products of this brand to United States Of America.

Anyone have any idea where he can find a suit like this? Or what kind of regulations would prevent the suits being shipped to the states?

Any info would help.
