I plan to use some type of marine sealant to seal the drain plug and screw holes.
Updates to follow.

I've heard of some guys filling old lifeguard buoys with like 6 lbs of foam which aparently gives a fair amount of buoyancy. My question what foam are they using? This M3 spray can stuff? or insulation foam, I'm utterly confused :( please help me understand

So while in a hurry packing for a spearing trip to Mass this past week, I decided I wanted to bring shears along much too late to buy something, and this was a broke-college-kid-trip anyway. :D

Cut out milk jug(aka poor man's Kydex) handle and warm in oven for several minutes. As soon as it starts to turn from milky translucent to clear, insert shears, and press down firmly around shears against flat surface with a thick towel.

Looks like crap, but I already had 4 pounds of musket balls crammed into a bike tire inner tube electric-taped to the weight belt, so how would a little more junk slapped on there cause anymore damage to the already suffering aesthetics?

Shears even click firmly into place, due to the safety tip.

Ended up with a half inch wide rough tear/gash in the foot pocket.

Only thing I could find was some crazy glue while on my trip, so I gave it a try. I spread some extra on top and that got pretty brittle and cracked, but the seam of the tear itself stoop up to 2 hours of diving, and some test-tugging.

Anyone else have to make emergency repairs?

I looked for some sort of inner tube repair kit hoping the rubber was compatible, but no luck. Still thinking of cleaning the outside, and applying some sort of patch over the tear. That area takes some stress when donning the fins.

Haven't seen any threads that dealt with rubber( just fiberglass/carbon) and thought we could share solutions.

ok so i have been on the cheap for a while now and while at a ship grave/salvage yard i found some boat fenders and some nylon anchor line...
went to my LDS (florida freedivers) and picked up some SS shackles, had a buddy of mine put loops in the ends of a couple lenghts of the anchor line.
attached fenders to shackles then shackles to anchor line... lo and behold, home made float lines... for less that $10 per '100...
i knew the guy running the gate at the ship grave/salvage yard so he let me walk with the 4 fenders and around '600 of anchor line for $5...

now granted i dont do much BW hunting, nor do i shoot hardly anything over 50lbs. they work for what i do, and may work for someone else on the cheap as i am...

dive safe and place your shots well my friends!
