Anyone headed out this week and have an extra spot? The weather looks GORGEOUS!

Freedive or SCUBA, doesn't matter to me. Im in Pinellas, but i'll drive. PFI trained, really good at pulling anchors, scrubbing boats, and cleaning fish. Good to split gas. Would love to get some diving in.

Beat our way out into bumpy seas to 60ft. First trip after the storm and I was expecting poor vis, but it was not bad at all. Had 25ft of vis on first dive mid morning, even late afternoon dive had shootable vis. Gags were plentiful, several followed me as I swam around. Adult Hogfish were not as plentiful, though saw several juvies, but did manage a few, Reds were there though not as abundant as Gags.

Any weekend trips planned for this area, you should have good vis.

Came down from AL to take a seminar for a couple weeks, and yes, I did bring my gear :toast: Looks like I can get away this weekend to spear if I can find a group going.

I'm accustomed to diving in the northern Gulf; don't need any babysitting in the water, freedive or scuba. If anyone has room for one this weekend, I'd appreciate the chance to get out and split cost, and pitch in wherever possible. Just shoot me a private message. Thanks..

Ps. If you don't have room, but can recommend a spear-friendly charter, that would be appreciated as well. Cheers

Dove with Aristakat on Memorial day weekend and as usual Capt. Jamie put us on teeth. The pic of the handful was the second dive first day a 3.75/3.5 and two 1.5s and some frags. A nice 5 was found on the afternon dive wish it was me. Then as a rare treat I actually got to dive with Capt. Jamie that's when I found the 2.75 that is just about as perfect a millions of years old tooth that I could ever hope to find. The pic of all the teeth I found that weekend. Capt and crew are friendly, helpful and will put you near teeth and they make it a fun day. Thanks alot you guys can't wait to get back.

Free diving class last minute 6/9/13 (tomorrow)

Work, and Monday all day pool/ ocean dive. Out of Jupiter. My buddy that bailed screwed me lost him, and boat. was wondering if anyone wanted to jump in last minute and had a boat? $400 per person, an trying to find a boat for Monday afternoon. Hey guys, I have lived in the Tampa Bay area for my entire life. I have some experience fishing and etc, had heard about spearfishing/freediving, but never really looked into it. I am 21 years old and am just looking for any tips or help anyone has to get started. I tried looking to see if there was any sort of instruction in the area but didn't find anything. Any piece of information helps! From good starting gear, to good places to start fishing, or any other information that will help me be a safe and smart fisherman. I am really looking forward to speaking with some of the people in the area! Thanks in advance!

Trip Report Panhandle Slob ARS.....

Made the trip with Jason to dive with friends in the panhandle (Destin).....we ran into the usual suspects......limits of two days worth of red snapper.....big slobs. Nasty sharks, shovel nose lobster, triggerfish, etc......first day (evident by the whitecaps in the background) was nasty rough, second day was great.

A big thanks to Bubba for making a first class gun....the Blacktip shot like a laser, and I never hit fish from so far away, thanks again Bubba!

Although its very unlike me, I dropped the ball on putting together a big red snapper trip for this weekend but instead we decided to have a nice relaxing day just fishing with my girlfriend and our neighbors kids on their new boat. The boat is definitely not a fishing boat but we made it work and wound up having a great time with non stop action in 60ft. I decided to bring my dive gear along and im glad I did! Vis was surprisingly good ranging from 15-30ft with the best vis being in 45ft. No hogs really, but the amount of quality mangos made it fun. We moved just a couple times but I managed to pop a half dozen mangs, a nice king, and a good red grouper in 45ft. The hook and line crew did good with a mix of kings, red grouper, and grunts. Im glad I stayed back and took it easy yesterday. It was one of the most fun trips Ive had in a while. I hope you dont mind all the photos!
Oh by the way, the first photo is of a ballsy triggerfish taking a bite out of my gopro!

Question about the middlegrounds, headed over tomorrow for 1st time!

I am headed out to the middlegrounds tomorrow and have a couple questions. I go over to commercial fish a couple times a year. We fish out of yankeetown in about 90-100 ft. This is the first time the boss said that I can bring a couple tanks! Stoked! So my question is do they get big hogs up there? Any big blacks in that depth? Any info would be apprciated. Is shallower better for the big hogs? I don't think I'll have a problem with the gags or red snapper. We usually can't keep them off the hook.
