Pole spear build/repair ?'s
Picked up a cheap eBay pole spear. It was 9' two yellow fiberglass sections and a carbon front section. I knew I shouldn't have bought it but I figured what the heck. I got extra insurance for $1.99. it snapped the first time I attempted to load it. Just before the fitting where the bottom section screws into the middle. Insurance refunded me my money and the seller is sending me a replacement. :thumps:
Opinions needed 1. I was able to heat up and remove the fittings from the broken section. I was thinking about getting some 1/2" od 6061 aluminum rod or tube and installing the fittings on it to make a better pole spear. 2. Should I get solid or tube? Weight doesn't seem that much different? 3. Should I just do the rear section or get two 36" pieces and just use the carbon front if I need the extra length? 4. Get 2 solid 12mm carbon fiber rods and make a 3pc carbon spear. 5. Throw it in the Garbage. |
Re: Pole spear build/repair ?'s
Some pictures would help of the busted pole. If anything, it will show others what not to buy.
