August is usually great weather too but the fish quantity/quality seem to start falling off as the water gets really warm.

I stopped even attempting to dive at all in September. You can get great weather and warm water but the amount of fish is usually a 1 out of 10 compared to May - July. The water is just too warm, the bottom algea starts to grow in the gulf and the Atlantic is covered in Jellyfish.

January - April both grouper and hogfish are closed. In April permit are now closed through July. Wahoo is best November to February.

Pretty much what he said.

June is my favorite month to dive by far. May is awesome when it's calm but I tend to shoot most of my big blacks in June.

December is great too because you can go out for wahoo in the morning and then shoot the reef in the day.

Fishing in the winter is great but diving, with everything closed and the shitty weather, sucks. Only thing to really target is wahoo and cobia which is great when you can find them.
