Re: Daily Vis report thread

Still good viz at BI. But no Striper. And I missed a Trigger fish.

The inlet is loaded with tons of big Togs, what are they eating ? the mussels are still tiny.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Yes that's right. August if we are lucky, end of July most likely. For BI, that is.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

I believe Mako reported that one common cause of misfire, although it's not technically 'misfire', is when the spear breaks at the notch indent. Since there is less steel precisely where the force is...

7 minutes of fun dudes !
Please appreciate the colors, it's no small work to show color at 20 ft depth, even in super clean water like this day.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

That's what I thought too.
About the safe, I still like to have one, just in case you pull the trigger by mistake. Well, don't complain, that Striper I missed maybe for you now.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

@Jerseymud : my cell phone doesn't work for now...

Fantastic viz last Sunday at Barnegat Inlet. Saw tons of big Togs and Horseshoe crabs or a whitish beige variety of these 'crabs', some mating. I...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Barnegat inlet today, 11:30AM 2 :30 Pm (high tide) viz about 5 ft. I Saw a huge Tog, so big I thought it may be a stripper, but it had a brownish back, so probably a tautog. It was in the shallow...

Talking Re: Best spearfishing camera mount?!?

Same for me, I wait for somebody to try it first and so far nobody seems in a hurry to try. I hoped that'd be YOU:D

I use a Red filer, I lost the Magenta already. The Red takes a lot of light...

Re: Best spearfishing camera mount?!?

uhoh 3/26/2018...you may be the first.
I got the 'cheap' session' too.
Cheap is relative, you have plenty of Chinese clones that claim to shoot in 1920X1080 60fps for half the price of the...

Cool, jersy' .
You got a new cam finally, what is it ? you'd lost a previous Gopro if I recall correctly.

Re: Best GoPro 3+ filters for better video underwater?

Same for me, but beside the compression artifacts, which are there to stay unless you resubmit your video in higher res and with a lower compression rate, the play back on you tube depends on the...

Re: Best GoPro 3+ filters for better video underwater?

[QUOTE=Dangerous;2164011]When I'm spearfishing, I don't think of the video since the camera is on my mask, just let it run :) Hopefully get some sand in there somewhere, sometimes an amberjack...

Re: Best GoPro 3+ filters for better video underwater?

forgive me, those clear water seem surreal to me. I think what fooled me the most was the uniformly blue background, like the back of an aquarium tank.

With the hero3+ I always left the white...

Re: Best GoPro 3+ filters for better video underwater?

Haha you fooled me. Well I guess you can produce excellent near perfect videos with a Gopro3+ (or better) and any software, if you spend the time necessary to fix those issues.

Do you agree that,...

Re: Best GoPro 3+ filters for better video underwater?

Hi Dangerous,

It won't be that easy to set the white balance at different depth and different lightning conditions in the sea than in a well lit fish tank. In the Gopro Studio software, you pick...

Re: Best GoPro 3+ filters for better video underwater?

The Polar Pro filters are very good.
I had a Hero3+ and I missed it (lost at sea...). It was superior to my Gopro Session particularly in the Mid Field of view, which was very linear with no curved...

Re: GoPro hero session

Update on the 'Gopro Studio' software.
For those who have issues aka the software crashes. It seems the simplest solution is to run it under Windows 10.

Now I am thinking about trying my...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

True, you probably left when it was becoming better.
The cold is not an issue if you have a good suit. What's the point of a winter suit if you only go when water is warm ?
I can say that my 5 mm...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

hehe you can't wait either...to me it was better than last month for sure, OK maybe just 10ft then or at least twice the length of my 90cm gun, almost 2meters in good old metric system.
It was from...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

No rush, I went today at high tide, in Barnegat Inlet as usual and saw no fish no crabs nothing. And no clams and mussels on the rocks. Water was as cold as last month. Compared to last April 2017,...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

I did it again yesterday Sunday at high tide 10:30 AM-12:30. No waves but strong current and still lots of whitish stuff in suspension. Viz was improved compared to 2 weeks ago, I'd say 4-5ft in...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Yeah, well the day was nice and sunny, no wind, no waves, only cold water. With fish and good vis, that would have been perfect.
That inlet is the nicest of New jersey, it has been made for us,...

Re: Daily Vis report thread
