Re: What gloves do you use?

I've been using the plasi dip spray on my JBL pole and while it doesn't last forever, it can be resprayed ad infinitum. Cuts down on hydrodynamics and will soon be my grip o' choice on my favorite...

Re: Crist Spear does it again! Bahamas

Kyle, Where were you? If you were on S. Andros again I'm wondering if Roggie was the captain. I've been staying at Andros Beach Club when I go down. Really just a two bedroom house and the owner,...

I ordered a three piece spear from Aaron. I wanted the pieces including the male threads to be two feet long as that was the size of my packing box. Maquel, Aaron's wife, made a custom band with a...

Re: Back from my trip.....

Great photos and it looks like my favorite type of island. I'll have to give it a try sometime. Just a thought, you said you wish you had the sling, I guess for a longer shot. Seems from the photo...

Re: Hawaiian Sling History???

Re: How far up do you prefer to load your pole spear?

I'm guessing my preferred shot using my Crist Spear is somewhere less than 24" from tip to fish. I know I can hit stuff further away, just saying. My question is what is a comfortable range for a...

Re: Coming clean.

Pipin advertised that he was going to do a "two breath dive" in Grand Cayman in 1997. Then he did the dive. I thought it was silly when he did it, but he got paid, Etc. Etc. I just googled it and...

Re: Question about Ray Odor Spear

Another way to cock your polespear is to arrange for the loop to be on the opposite side from where the loop lines exit. This sends the energy down through the center of the pole and takes care of...

Re: In the interest of killing Lionfish

A good, cheap way of spearing lionfish is a 4' fiberglass pole with the weakest rubber available. Use a paralyzer tip with NO barbs. You can spear a couple on a tip without going to your fish...

Re: Roller Pole

Re: Roller Pole

The single rubber is necessary if you're going with a roller. The roller configuration also allows you to start the stretch back from the butt all the way to where you grip the spear. It could give...

Re: Roller Pole

The band is 18" long and 9/16 diameter. That gives it 54" of stretch on the 7' version of the Crist spear. The butt piece is 4' so when I screw on the shaft end and a 3' middle piece I have a 10'...

Re: Newbie polespear question

No, I wasn't making myself clear. I think I'm shooting just fine, I guess I'm pointing out that while a light spear like my fiberglass one seems to go straight to a target four feet away, a heavy...
