Re: Small Boats with Dive Platform?

Yeah Mike, Steve really has nailed right in this one as far as small boat for spearfishing, you can dive anywhere in the world with it. My Yamaha 40hp has C-Ski 444 written all over it....

Re: Updates From Pistoleros!

Great fish in a great trip. I dove San Evaristo late January 2012, but it was dead. Bummer because I've always heard it was good. Thanks for confirming it...

Re: Changing enclosed track internal diameter

I'll try Behslayer's scraper, it's the only solution. But just enough to fit the 9/32 shaft, not wider than that. You're right, Impaler, how lame can this be? A gun like this would never be sold in...

Re: Changing enclosed track internal diameter

Je vais voir avec Josh. Je ne voudrais pas la mijoter dans l'atelier de charpentier, je cherchais qq chose de plus simple, mais il parait que il sera de la galčre pour le changer comme il faudrait.

Re: Changing enclosed track internal diameter

Jason, the gun isn't new as guns go. I got it as a gift in June 2010. Few months later, when I've asked the maker how to fit the 9/32 shafts, he told me to wrap a sandpaper around the shaft and work...

Re: Changing enclosed track internal diameter

The gun is a Midhandle 120 made in SE Asia. Curiously, mine has a 3-band slot and original [precisely] 7 mm shaft with Riffe mini Icepick.

When I wanted to change to a 9/32 shaft, it wouldn't fit...

Changing enclosed track internal diameter

This may sound dumb to gun building experts, but I've a gun with an enclosed track for 7 mm shaft. Even the 9/32 shaft wouldn't fit in it. But I want to change the track to be able to use 19/64...

Re: New cobia WR shot in Brazil

Don't be sorry. So either I am dishonest or an idiot, or both, unaware of a scale being off or to evaluate a fish size in my 39 years of spearfishing. This is BS. I'm off this forum, LADVR is right.

Re: New cobia WR shot in Brazil

I witnessed both weigh-ins and supervised the documentation of both applications. Also, I know personally both divers. I take offense by your statement, as I'm sure would too my fellow committee...

Re: Getting Conditioned to Freedive

My 2˘: don't worry about keeping track of your bottom time. Instead, concentrate on being at ease in the water regardless of sea conditions as concentration + relaxation = higher and safer bottom...

New cobia WR shot in Brazil

This huge ~142 lb. (64.5 kg) cobia was shot last Saturday off Espírito Santo state, southeastern Brazil. No details as of yet, so we cannot tell if the spearfisher followed the WR protocol....

Re: Aeris F.10 review on DB

Hmm, interesting. I missed this thread earlier because only now my ancient D3 (orange still!) seems on its way to receive its last rites any time soon. But one cool D3 feature (at least for me)...

Re: How do you deal with sharks attacking a speared capture?

Welcome to the club.

Good luck trying to immediately grab a freshly speared doggie if not stoned dead, regardless of size.

As for the grey suits, once they lock onto the prey, let them have...

Re: Teen dies while free diving in Gulf of Mexico

That's jornalese for "something happened down there and we don't have a clue of what it was". My feelings to the family and close ones.

Re: Makos, Barracudas, AJ's and Tarpon!!!

Fishermen lore from Southern Brazil goes that ten pounders are the mother-in-law's fish. And that tarpon is an overgrown ten pounder, therefore good only for mothers-in-law dinner parties :D

My...

Hi All,

A couple of buddies of mine, expert spearos (ranked among the top-5 in Brazil) will spend ~4 days in Key West starting August 5th. They're looking for buddies to hook up, go out together,...

Line fishermen lobby, like they also did to billfish, snook, tripletail and redfish, for example.

Re: Thank God I did not pay for this thing!

2 more cents to the lot, if I may:

1) The loading pads on both Mako gun models aren't particularly well designed because they were adaptations, not originals. As it's public knowledge, both...

Thanks for the prompt reply. Are you sure of this breaking strain? Your catalogue says otherwise. It seems that you got confused in the conversion. Which is the correct one?

Why not? Were...

Re: Worlds strongest spearfishing line now available state side

Shaun,

I've been using 1.8mm spearfishing application Dyneema in my reels for few years. I tried it as shooting line but went back to mono because it's a bitch to tangle in the water although...

Re: Freedive Warsaw Grouper!!!!!

Nice going Cam. Those Warsaws are really dumb when facing freedivers, likely due to their very rare encounters with them (us). OTOH, they're on top of my list of the five best eating fish, regardless...

Near-Houston spearing

Sometime between late July and mid-August, I'd have to pass through Houston. Since it'd be prime spearing season in Texas (wouldn't?), I was wondering if it's worth taking few days off to visit the...
