I have 4 guns with these handles and with either bare hand or glove I have found them great without adding texture (like sand impregnated epoxy). Your hand has a lot of contact area with the handle...

The coating is epoxy, 7 light coats. The reason for blending the timbers was this was getting set up for a 8mm shaft and pure padauk is a little too dense for how narrow this gun...

1050 from seat to tip, 1310 overall. Padauk with Mahogany inlays. Purple Heart, Wenge and Ash handle.

Spring steel shafts typically have a stainless flopper and pin. The protective coating will have long gone on the shaft from normal use before a stainless nose cone will have caused a problematic...

True that Pete. The Eucalypt the original gun was made from is a very tough timber. To snap it like that is terrify when compare the frail human body.

A mate of mine, Adam Cvetkovski made a sweet double roller for a customer. Unfortunately this gun was run over by a boat. Adam has moved and is currently unable to build spearguns for a little while...

Carbon stringers are far more abrasive than I expected. They chewed up one of my thickness plane blades. Tried it with a tungsten router straightening jig with more success though it took the edge...
