Re: Daily Vis report thread
visibility today at the inlet was four feet five feet maybe.the problem is not the visibility it's that there is no fish! of course the mysterious pocket had about 10 to 15 feet. Where have all the fish gone? off the coast last week it was the same story the fish are gone
saved the day at the backup spot and came away with three fluke |

Re: Daily Vis report thread
Worked over an area in Northern MoCo. Bumped into a fellow spearo as he was leaving and I was arriving. Nice guy - good gear = Knew what he was talking about.
Warned me that the tide/wave-action was pulling up some fine sediment and the water wasn't the best. Also said there was a fairly solid layer of gunk about 1-2 feet off the bottom. He was right - in part. There were patches of clear water... I'd say 8' Then there were places where you couldn't see your hand on the trigger. He was completely right about the bottom. There seemed to be relative clarity from 0 to say 2 feet from the bottom... Then it was just murky. Also - there seems to be some kind of algae. It looked dead - it was brown, but it was all over the water column. |

Re: Daily Vis report thread
Has anyone dove Shark River inlet? I've been looking to dive there but it apparently has a ton of rules, including no diving between 8am and 5pm. The fishing would be great but it's not worth a ticket.

Re: Daily Vis report thread
Its a good spot although there are usually tons of boats and fisherman. Can't dive between 8 am and 5:30pm although I always see people doing it anyways. At their own risk of course.

Re: Daily Vis report thread
Dove last night with my son, HuntDirtyJerz, from 8:30 -11:30 pm. Vis was pretty good in spots, but using a light while spearing needs to be perfected. May not be for everyone and it has its obstacles, but we think it's awesome. My obstacle last night was swallowing salt water and dealing with reeeeal sour stomach ! Wanted to christen the new Ulusb 110 on something sizable, but that may have to wait for the next daylight dive.
Mako 90cm and pole spear proved to be fine. |

Re: Daily Vis report thread
Viz was pretty good on Saturday at Barnegat for a little while. When the tide started to go back out, it went to crap in the inlet. There were plenty of fish to be found, but only tog and fluke in the inlet. Still haven't seen any triggers this year. We were finally able to dive the ocean side and look for fluke which was a really nice change for once.
Awesome job NJs! We haven't come across any decent stripers in over a month. Saw a couple small ones yesterday. I had a 18 incher swim by me around some rocks on the ocean side. Hoping they start making their way back in and this water starts clearing up with the fall rolling in. I was finally able to dive with a real wetsuit and what a difference. I was actually able to make some decent 30+ second dives for once. What a difference a suit makes for your breath hold.

Impala, you may want to proof read your last post and edit out any info that will make our sport seem irresponsible.
