Speargun Bands (Quick Question)
Hello! I have a question: what size bands should I use for my gun?
I have an AB Miller, about a little longer than 60 inches ( about 5 feet) in total length including the shaft (spear). Just the wooden frame of the gun is about 3.5 feet in length. Currently I am using two 5/8 inch 24" bands. They are very tough to pull, I struggle to get the second band on and I feel like they are too tight. Thank you! |

Re: Speargun Bands (Quick Question)
according to the stock measurement that sounds like the correct stock band setup, but if it's too tight for you then just go ahead and try some 26" bands next and that will make a big difference. Keep in mind bands shouldn't really be easy to load

Re: Speargun Bands (Quick Question)
How long have you been spearing? Are you sure you're loading the gun right? Try pulling the bands using your back muscles more, (I don't think I'm very good at explaining this via text, but maybe someone else will chime in).
The proper technique is important. If you try to muscle it in with just your arms, even my little single 14 70cm gun is tough to load. If you put your torso into it, it's a night and day difference. |

Re: Speargun Bands (Quick Question)
I have been spearing for about 8 years now. I load the gun by putting it on my hip bone and it allows me to have a better grip and more strength to pull the bands. I don't like loading the gun by putting it on my chest. I don't have enough tricep strength for that.
