"Dreamloader" cable gun load assist device
During the development of the "Dreamair" pneumatic powered cable gun a number of gadgets were devised to make drawing the wishbone back easier on that gun by using a mechanical advantage whereby the operator pulls back on two grip handles and consequently has not so far to reach forwards on the gun body. The most interesting of these is the hook and pulley equipped "Dreamloader" which can be seen being used for cocking the gun when the start pressure in the gun has been increased in the later gun shooting videos.
I think this gadget could be used on any band gun, particularly a cable gun where like the "Dreamair" one is drawing back essentially what are long wishbone cables. The draw effort is split by the spear itself taking some of the load as you pull with the inner cord ends anchored on a shaft tab. The force is halved, but you have to move the cord twice the distance compared to the case where there are no pulleys in the hooks. Strategic knots in the cords that are caught by slots in the holes running through the grip handles and a one-way pulley action allow pauses to be made during the draw so that the grip handles can be slid forwards to engage the next set of knots. A close-up of the loading handle slots that catch onto knots in the cord.
