Level 1 Freediving Course

I'm taking the F.I.I. Level 1 Freediving Course with on Dec 4th and 5th in the Keys with Chris Gonzalez. In talking with Chris he said there might be a couple more spots open so if any of you are interested call Capt. Hooks, ask for James and he'll get you hooked up.
I know a bunch of you guys have probably already been through this class but I'm not only interested in it, I'm chomping at the bit to go. I've done a little freediving on my own but want to learn the right way to do it...I also want to learn how to do it safely so that I can keep doing it. From what I've been told, the goal of the class is to get everyone to 3 minutes static and dive to a depth of 60 or 66 feet. I can stay down about 30-40 seconds @ 20 feet and I can do a static breath hold for 2:15 so I figure this should be my ticket. But I really want to increase my bottom time so I can shoot bigger fish.

Dying to take one of those courses but the ones I have came across have cost to much $$$. Once I have the extra cash I am definitely doing one.

This one runs $320 which isn't cheap but I'm good with it if I learn enough to avoid killing myself.

Re: Level 1 Freediving Course

Do you guys know if I can jump on a level II without taking the first one or do you have to go in order? I know it may not make sense but the reason is cause i already do a static of 3:30 and can do 60' so by what everyone says thats more or less the goal on level I. Just don't want to throw my money away.

I did level II without doing the level I, i'm sure with that breath hold and depth you are ready for level II.

I definitely would recommend Level I regardless. It would give you a great foundation for Level II. You would get so much more out of Level II if you did it this way.

I am and instructor for FII. If I had to do it all over again, I would have definitely started with Level I.... I ended up doing Level II twice because the amount of information was insane to get in one sitting...

Just my two cents.

Errol

BTW, you can take Level II with out Level I.
