Recommendations for a first gun?
I've been spearfishing for about a year now with a pole spear and I want to get a speargun. I go spearfishing between Jupiter and Miami in 20-50 ft of water with 20+ ft viz and I don't want to spend over $400. I've heard mixed reviews of brands like jbl and I wanted to know if you could offer any suggestions. Thanks

Re: Recommendations for a first gun?
Agreed. I made the mistake of buying a jbl when i first got into spearfishing. i quickly sold it and upgraded to a 120 ra and now im shooting a 140ra. best gun ever. i also own a 130 riffe euro (best dust collector ever!)..
A rob allen from FLfreedivers would be your wisest investment. i use two 5/8" * 29" bands on my 140, but i always preferred a single 3/4" * 27" band (which is really short and much harder to load) on the 120,. just my opinion, but something that youll have to figure out which you prefer. |

For the money you can't go wrong with an RA,I see hundreds on the boat and they can take a beating. Great point and shoot gun. FL Freedivers will give you a great price.

Re: Recommendations for a first gun?
rabitechs are very good also and very similar to RA i think a bit better perhaps, but more rare in the US but it has never been a problem ordering spare parts.
