Re: Reef Monitoring - Lionfish Safari

Special thanks goes out to HammerHead Spearguns! HammerHead has been a great sponsor of Reef Monitoring and our local community events. They are back on board with two pairs of their kick ass Dyneema gloves as well as TWO of their LionBuster pole spears. I use a lionbuster myself and it's perfect. The 5-prong tip is far superior to the average 3-prong and the polespear itself is lightweight and strong.
Thank you so much HammerHead!!

Re: Reef Monitoring - Lionfish Safari

Rock Bottom Divers is continuing their support of Reef Monitoring both for the Lionfish Safari as well as long term! They have donated a GatorPac Deluxe Backpack dive bag for the safari. Very comfortable backpack style bag that almost "got lost" here in the office. I'll be keeping my eyes on this one personally.
In addition, several of Reef Survey kits are being put together and will soon be available for divers to get out and complete our reef surveys. We are looking to make Rock Bottom Divers the central Pinellas HUB of data collection!
Scott Crawford runs a top-notch full service dive shop in Dunedin, Florida offering gear sales and service, dive trips and charters and a full line of certification INCLUDING disabled divers. Scott is a Handicapped Scuba Association Open Water Instructor, and works with numerous organizations certifying disabled vets in scuba.
Thank you for everything that you and your crew are doing!

Re: Reef Monitoring - Lionfish Safari

Thank you very much to Teresa and Jim's Dive Shop!
Jim's Dive Shop is a staple in the bay area and has done a TON for the local community. Teresa has been a huge supporter of Reef Monitoring for years now and has continued for the Lionfish Safari with a slew of prizes and goodies for your bags!
In addition, Jim's has also donated TWO gift certs for Open Water certification into the raffle! This will be a GREAT opportunity for non-divers to get certified. Non-divers at the weigh-in can win them for themselves to get into diving or you could win them as a gift!

Jim's Dive Shop is a full service dive shop located on Bay Pines Blvd in St. Pete. It is also the meeting place of the Gulf Coast Underwater Hunters dive club! Get in there and check them out!

Thank you so much Teresa!!!

Re: Reef Monitoring - Lionfish Safari

A great returning sponsor of Reef Monitoring are Capt. Mike and Capt. Heidi with Blue Water Life! Blue Water Life is focused on the amazing underwater world below. They specialize in Underwater Photography, Scuba Dive Trips and Travel.

I believe Capt. Heidi took home TWO titles from the Southern Open State Underwater Photo Championship in June this year including "State Film Style Champion" and "State Video Champion"
Rumor has it that Capt. Mike and Capt. Heidi are also registered to participate in this Lionfish Safari and will be a strong competitor! Maybe if Capt. Heidi can't put the camera down, everyone else will have a chance!!
Thank you very much!

Special thanks goes out to Genny and the Bay Area Reef Runners Dive Club! The BARR divers have been with Reef Monitoring since nearly the beginning and we sincerely appreciate their continued support.

The Bay Area Reef Runners is composed of over 400 members of various experience and interests including fossil hunting, underwater photography, videography, wreck diving, spearfishing and of course LIONFISH REMOVAL!!!
They have an upcoming trip planned for lobster hunting and spearfishing out of Pompano Beach as well as the dedication of the USS Narcissus for the new State Underwater Archaeological Preserve!

Check them out, they are a great organization and great supporters of Reef Monitoring!
