Looking for some tips on diving Costa Rica
Hi all, I took a sabbatical from diving for a while due to lasik ( which was well worth it ). I am back in the water now and getting ready for the Puget sound ling season and an upcoming trip.
I posted in the international section as well, but wanted to get any tips I could from local guys. I will be spending a week in Samara, Guanacaste, Costa Rica in early June. I am planning to spend most of the time in the water, and would appreciate any tips on diving, spearing, or just in general as this will be my first trip. I would love to chat with someone who has spent some time in the area if possible. |

Re: Looking for some tips on diving Costa Rica
All the shore diving in that area is really good. So few people spearfish there, most of the fish have never seen a diver before. I'm sure any of the locals panga's will take you out too. Probably some off shore reefs that come up close to the surface. It's like that all along that coastline. But just off the upper and lower structure that make up all the small bays north and south of Samara will produce fish. Expect Amberjack and Spanish Mackerel and lot's of Pargo. Nice Parrots too for fresh ceviche. Lot's of white tip sharks, but they've never been bothersome at all.
