A Toast to those who are Gone..
...Men like Long Beach Neptunes member Mel Clark; a mild mannered man who entered a concrete bunker alone and emerged with seven armed German soldiers, accompanied only with his .45.
...It is said, "There are no heroes...only ordinary men called upon to do extraordinary things"... |

Re: A Toast to those who are Gone..
Men like my father, Max H. Doner, who was a Marine in MAG 22 who participated in the assault on Engebi Island in the Eniwetok Atoll during WW2. He died at 94 years of age. My hero forever.

Re: A Toast to those who are Gone..
Bill Maurice Mullins: my guardian, mentor, substitute father and very best friend in this life of mine. A righteous man through and through; strong, wise, sternly loving, industrious, disciplined, intolerant of mediocrity. Bill took me in when I was a lost teenage and taught me much of what is good im my life.
After serving his country in the Korean war, he still had lots to give to his fellow man- I am profoundly and ever grateful for having been shaped by this true man of his era. I miss him so much and remember him always!
