ATTENTION ALL FLORIDA DIVERS - FWC is asking us to take this survey.
ATTENTION ALL FLORIDA DIVERS - FWC is asking us to take this survey. I took the survey and found it easy and quick. The following is the FWC request. Jessica is the head honcho in our world of Florida Marine fishing regulations and has been supportive of spearfishing rights over the years. Thanks, Tony
Please see the message from Jessica McCawley below. We want to hear from you! FWC’s Division of Marine Fisheries Management is conducting a short survey to help determine priority areas for marine fisheries management projects. Marine fish and invertebrates are your resources. This is your opportunity to assist in the management of your resource. We are asking you to help us get the word out about the survey. Can you please provide the link for the survey to your membership so they can participate. We will have the survey available until June 25th on our website. Please click on the following link to take the survey. It should take only a few minutes. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Marine-Fisheries If you have any questions please feel free to contact us by responding to this email or calling Jim at 850-617-9622. J. All is good. We helped defeat the National Marine Sanctuary proposal for the entire Southeast coast today and backed FWC's continued management. I recorded the meeting on 5 cameras and will edit this weekend for a video post soon. Helping FWC with this little survey is a minor assist compared to the artillery shell sized bullet we dodged today. Tony

Re: ATTENTION ALL FLORIDA DIVERS - FWC is asking us to take this survey.
Done brother!
Question Why are they even asking about managing federal waters? 80% of boaters never even travel that damn far. And bottom line is if they are really worried about the fisheries, then they need to control all of the pollutants and waste materials that they wash out into the sanctuaries. If there is no bait around, there will not be any fish around either. Bottom of the food chain is where they need to start. Common damn sense.

Re: ATTENTION ALL FLORIDA DIVERS - FWC is asking us to take this survey.
Henry, good question.
I called Amanda Nally at FWC HQ and read her your question and asked her for clarification on what the survey is intending to accomplish. She said that FWC is doing this broad survey that is not species-specific to get a better sense of what is important to users like us as well as recreational boaters and the general population. A survey participant might for example think pollution is important to to them and they should check that selection. Even though pollution is not under their specific jurisdiction, FWC can encourage other agencies to prioritize that issue higher. She also said many Floridians boat and fish in Federal waters around the state which is why they asked about Federal matters. Your point may be applicable to the narrow reef shelf areas in Miami and the Keys, but elsewhere like central and northern Florida they have much larger and shallower dive-able and fish-able bottoms in Federal waters. I hope this explanation helps. Tony Quote:
