Re: ultimate lobster snare idea

I have no idea if this is legal on the east coast but i know its not legal here.
An old timer i know told me about this trick to catch holed up lobsters back when there really wasnt much of a fish and game.
Their method was to bring down a cloth mop with them (Im assuming scuba would be 100 times easier) and once they located a hole with lobster(s) in it they would shove the mop into the hole and give it a quick spin.
The lobsters become tangled in the mop and are unable to get away.
Not legal here but it might be over there. If it is i am told this method is extremely effective
and no i have never actually tried this.

Re: ultimate lobster snare idea

I finally got a chance to use my lobster stringer today and it was awesome!

Improvements:
1) use thick mono instead of string (gets tangled)
2) use a double clip on one end so you can easily release the lobsters

This thing was awesome. No drag and easily the best lobster keeper around.

1) take 6 or 7 big zip ties
2) punch a small hole one the end of the ziptie
3) thread a string through these holes
4) close the zip ties to form loops
5) tie each end of the rope to a clip
6) clip one clip to your self

You now have a lobster stringer!

Just put a lobster tail through the zip tie and pull it tight. One hand holds the lobster and one hand pulls the zip tie close. You can even do it by pinning the lobster to the ground with one hand and using the other to put the zip tie on the tail. This is great for big bugs where it's a hassle to get them in a bag.

When not in use, just roll it up and store it in your pocket. Takes no space and no drag.
