Anyone been to Fish Lake lately? Also, is a 110 euro too long for the spearing there?

On a decent/good vis day a 110 is perfect for Fish Lake. I have taken a 90 and had it be too short a few times.

A 110 is not to long for fish lake David. Sometimes you can get really close to some of the bigger fish and don't need but an 80cm or 90cm gun and sometimes they are spooky and a little longer gun is nice to have. As long as you have the visibility. When are you headed up?

JoKer, I am heading up Friday, late evening. I have a few hours to fish Saturday morning before a class I am teaching at noon. Your game plan sounds perfect. Bringing my Kayak.

Terry

Thanks Terry. I was planning on doing a trip there this Friday- Sunday but I need to make a quick trip back to Australia, so I'll be missing that. I probably will try and organize a trip for the end of this month, maybe we can go for a dive together. How did you go in Palapas Ventana by the way?

Josh: I sent you an email about ordering 3 guns from you yesterday. Could you get that quote to me at your convenience? I leave for Australia tonight and want to make the order sooner rather than later. Thanks

Re: Utah Visibility Overview (please contribute!)

Joker and I made it up to Fish Lake this weekend, though he stayed a day longer than me so he may have more to report!

Visibility was about 15-17 feet, down just a bit from 20-24 that is common but can be better. I spoke with some other spearos who had been there for several days and they said it had rained or hailed each of the days the had been there but mostly in the afternoon. I tool a nap from 1:30 to 3:00 pm to let the weather do its thing and got back in the water until 7:30. Like me they saw no tiger muskie but i did see a few smaller lake trout in the 2-3 LB range. This lake is at 8900' elevation so dress warm for cool evenings. Water was 62 deg on the surface and there is a small thermocline near 28'

I managed a 2-2 1/2 lb lake trout that we ate Sunday night, it was quite good. It was a long shot so I was glad to have the 110cm gun. I wont tell you how many I missed though.
