Northern Channel islands at dawn of human history
Pretty cool to think about next time you are diving one of those rocks!

Re: Northern Channel islands at dawn of human history
Very interesting reading...There are many plants, trees and some animals only found on the islands. An early Indian had some old Spanish gear, including a helmet stored in a box in a cave on Catalina island. Somehow, the items were moved back east by some college researcher and are now stored in archives someplace....wish we had them back for our museums...makes we wonder if the stuff was related to what I believe was a sunken Spanish galleon off the west end of Catalina, where I came across a stacked pile of ballast rocks while commercial diving deep for white abalone...at the time, I did not recognize what I was seeing as a possible wreck..

If you liked that read I recommend looking into the history with the lone Indian woman of San Nic Island. An incredible story to say the least. Another interesting tale is of the Frenchman that lived on Anacapa and even Gull Island for a bit.
