Looks like a great trip! I echo kwyoungspear. The life in Hawks is great, just gotta be able to see something in there. Good job seizing the opportunity!

Re: Hawks channel!
Since me and a couple friends dove Hawks in Miami yesterday, I figured I would add to the report. Water is plenty warm for rash guards and visibility wasn't great, 15' or so. We didn't hit anything deep, but got two hogfish at 17" and one at 23". We saw maybe 3-4 more that were legal, one in the 20" range.
The only grouper we saw was about a 15" red and a 10" black. We didn't get past about 20' depth, but we'll normally see something legal, even if it spooks off. So maybe they are deeper or maybe they just got out before we got there. Not much in the way of snapper, either. The wind unexpectedly picked up in the afternoon so we called it a day on our 3 fish and got out. |
