RIFFE Marauder speargun
While looking through the new 2019 Riffe catalog I found this new gun, the "Marauder". This gun has a bit more shape to it compared with their previous guns in terms of curves and tapers. Note that the gun has a push button safety.

Re: RIFFE Marauder speargun
it will also be necessary to remake the varnish regularly, it is no longer full teak

Re: RIFFE Marauder speargun
Purple heart and mahogany, so a mix. I varnish my timber guns with marine spar varnish, so that ain't a show stopper. Used to have a big pot of Brillspar Marine Spar varnish, great stuff, but it eventually went off as a natural gum based varnish which you thinned out with turps. It never really dried and was slightly soft, so the painted surface could take moderate knocks without cracking.

Re: RIFFE Marauder speargun
I have a hand-made gun very similar to this one! It was made by an artisan that copied the Riffe Euro design, but with sexier curves.
Will take some pictures to post them here. I like this design though. The handle design could be improved IMHO

Re: RIFFE Marauder speargun
That handle is the result of attaching add-on handles screwed from the bottom to the stock of the gun. Instead of improved... I would say... fully redisigned. But then we would be talking about another wooden eurogun, not a US traditional gun.

Re: RIFFE Marauder speargun
Traditional US spearguns in my hands and those of others have killed tons of fish, so no problem there. As to the handle it seems to be the Riffe Euro handle. I remember when it was first produced and wondered at the time what gun it was going to be fitted to.

Re: RIFFE Marauder speargun
the step would be to stop producing shit guns !
the marauder model was not able to get a fish , because the wood folds when you load it . end of june experience ! in hand from his new australian owner , who then ordered 6 new alemanni spearguns after this ... |

yes Jay Riffe as produced guns successfully for years and most were the best in years 2000 and around . if he had create a good company and made profit does not mean now he is still producing good guns . it is just my own opinion and nobody as to believe me , i do not care . And do not think i never owned one , i did from 2000 to 2003 and one was good for 30 months then twist and wood was replaced in warranty because 30 month old was not 36 ( warranty ending time ) , after this the new wood twisted after 9 months and i went to buy better guns at this time ( steve alexander ).... |
