Re: Puerto Rico

We stayed in Rincon and Isabela for a couple of weeks this past Feb.

The first few days in Rincon it was flat so I dove everyday. Saw a few nice Mutton that were very skittish, a few lobster, small snappers, ceros. I was fortunate to have access to a kayak as the reef is pretty dead close to the beach. I paddled out to 30ft or so which was surprisingly far out. That is where I got a few snappers and a couple lobster for dinner. The muttons and ceros that I saw were hunting in the channels between the reef and the shore. Surf got nice later in the week so we surfed the rest of the time.

In Isabela the surf was big most of the time. I dove the blue hole and snorkeled around in the shallows after surf sessions.

We dove Crashboats also. It's usually pretty calm and clear there. Cool little dive. Get some Pinchos there, they are amazing.

Hope you have a great trip!

Re: Puerto Rico

I will be in PR in Dec. can any one tell me where to find regs for hunting fish/lobster. I have been looking all over the net... Do I need a permit? limits? restricted waters....

just don't want to get myself into trouble.

Will be on a boat so we could potentially go anywhere. Was thinking Culebra and Vieques, mainly reef hunting the shallower waters so the non-spearos can snorkle.

I have all the permits do do charters in Puerto Rico, and ave been doing it for over 15 years, plus avoided that it was made ilegal in 2004 and have been working to keep spearfishing alive since then in Puerto Rico.
