Re: $500 Giveaway from Dive Addicts!

Josh, Ditto on what has been said above.

I'm a web designer & backend programmer (as rare as a three headed clownfish) here in Vegas. Your new splashpage looks great but there are a few things that will help your site:
1) Navigation needs a little rehaul. It is one of the keys of good design. You need to be able to get anywhere, from anywhere; the same way on every page, every time. When navigation is different on some pages, all of us ADDers get irritated and can move on to other sites.
2) Your site needs a cohesive design. The look, feel and texture should be homogenous throughout. Even if it is a simple design, the uniformity will make it feel like an expensive sight.
... oh well, I'll PM you the rest.

Cheers.

Re: $500 Giveaway from Dive Addicts!

Heres a few of the suggestions that I saw when looking at your site. Some of them may have been discussed already but I didn't read through all of them.

1. The first main issue I saw was with the drop down menu. When the titles were two lines half of the letters would be cut out. I also noticed that it was hard to stay on the drop down menu. If you accidentally move the mouse off the drop down menu even for a second, the menu closes. I would suggest just trying to find a new style of menu with all the categories instead.

2. On the bottom of the site under the terms and copyright information was a long white/blank area. This just doesn't look professional and could be taken away.

3. I noticed that some of the items didn't have pictures or just weren't listed. I know it takes time to upload images for every product and to post every product on your site, but I feel like having those products easily accessible on your site will increase your online sales.

Thats about all I could think of for now. Thanks Josh.

Thanks for the feedback thus far everybody. Keep it coming! I will be investing a good amount into redoing the site, and I want to make sure I do it right.

Mobile version is a little too basic. Easy to use but it seems like I keep going back to the desktop version.

Fix the huge blank spot as you scroll down on the main page. Also fix the drop down menus.

1. Cutoff dropdowns
2. making more navigation possible without the drop downs(maybe general categories listed in a sidebar, then drop downs for individual things.
3. A gallery page with pictures from customers would be pretty cool

Don't know if this has already been said but I personally like to be able to load/view "All" items. Just saves a lot of time/effort (mouse clicks)

Re: $500 Giveaway from Dive Addicts!

I think there have been great things mentioned above, especially with the cut-off drop downs and negative space on the page. On top of that, I would say:

Maybe have a home page that says Welcome to "Dive Addicts" with a picture of the crew, sponsor logos and perhaps a photo gallery of customers etc. It will be great if this place includes a link for a brief history on Dive Addicts, Class schedule, Updates/ Blog, a Contact Us section and most importantly, a link to your online dive store.

I would say get rid of the drop down menus completely. I find it takes longer to search for products when you have to look through different drop down menus. I think a dive store that has a great website is Austins Dive Center. Take a look at theres. Everything is on the page, and when you click it, the product expands into different brands. That is how a website should be. Easy to navigate, looks simple but isn't tacky.

Re: $500 Giveaway from Dive Addicts!

Id switch off of drop downs and have it as a side menu. I would make a menu item called wetsuits and gloves instead of camo.

have the items on the side alphabetical. easier to find what you are looking for.

Your products should be organized in a reasonable manner. on the side is should go apparel bags computers ect.

have a shipping calculator in the cart side bar

Re: $500 Giveaway from Dive Addicts!

Make your Promotions page more appealing. Add prices along with the discount amount or percentage. For a lot of divers, when there is something we want but dont need, we often wait to see it on the sale rack before we make the jump. That means you could also benefit from listing a few of the promos on the home page.
