For the guys who own Shark Shields

How do you wear yours? I keep getting zapped by the damn thing - I have it on my left ankle, with the antenna base facing down and on the lateral aspect (outside) of my ankle.

Re: For the guys who own Shark Shields

Have seen some divers drill a hole just inside the fin rib on the "blade". Then put a ty wrap loop thru the hole and around the fin rib. Then, run the whip thru it. This way the whip runs from the ankle thru the ty wrap loop. Along the outside of the fin rib and trails behind the fin.

Last edited by sharpshooter; 09-16-2018 at 07:56 AM. Reason: added "blade".

Would love to see a picture/video of that. Thanks!

Eric that's because you keep doing tight circles watching the bull shark you admire so much, no worries though, when you see your first BIG tiger , you'll forget all about that SS, so will the tiger

That just means it’s working, I like to think if it’s shocking me it’s shocking them as well. Makes me feel better anyway, lol.

I agree, snake oil, even the shark shield will only give you a moment or two if you’re hanging on to a thrashing fish. Best advice I have is to silence your fish quickly and be assertive if a shark takes a fancy to your catch. Also, staying close to your buddies will also give you an advantage, but I know that can be difficult when spearing in the gulf vis.

Yeah, I think the SS gives you momentary protection, but once a fish is thrashing after a spring-steel enema, all bets are off. And buddy diving is not de rigueur for spearfishing, at least the way WE do it.
