I think eradication is an impossibility at this point. The best that we can realistically hope for is to keep them thinned down in diveable waters, and even that's going to be difficult.

Re: HeadHunter Video
Like Megabeast said, there's literally 50-100's of them on small spots in the Gulf, very similar to what he described in the Atlantic. Heres a link to a small spot that had some nice fish on it and was covered with Lion fish as well. I did manage to drive 2 LF spines into my right leg pulling out the Carbo. Fun fun.

Re: HeadHunter Video
Video of a deep spot. Ran over a good show, no structure or hard bottom to be found. I decided to roll on it and see what turned up....

I ran over a similar show but the black brought me to a single coral head in the middle of no where, last 3 times I've dove the head I've shot a 50 pounder. Diving in the keys isn't anything close to the things you guys do though, you would probably consider that a little black. Would love to dive with you guys when I get all my tech classes done.

Re: HeadHunter Video
How deep was the spot you got the 2 lion fish spines in the right leg? Looks like you got to the bottom pretty quick. Was wondering how long your luck would hold out before getting stuck. Have had 2 friends get stuck this year. Real hot water helped a lot from a small camping stove we have on board. Have not tried ammonia yet. I know it works on bee and wasp stings. Keep the great videos coming. The water vis. in shore still sucks.

Jose, I quit counting at 15 hits. They usually only affect me like a hornet sting. only a couple have really sucked. A lot depends on everyone's unique body reaction to it, how large a lionfish it was, how many spines got you, how deep the spines went, if the spines had to go through material before hitting you, and of course where on your body the spines went in. Much better to get hit in a large fleshy area than a small area like a finger. Hot water helps break down the protein and also increases blood flow in the area helping to dilute the protein.

I really would not want to be rooting around in the silted out hole - trying to find that Black with a million lionfish everywhere.

Awesome videos Dan. Thanks for sharing! It takes a set to wrestle big fish at that depth.
