Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
My wife and I were diving in Westport last weekend and viz was a solid 15 - 20 feet. Nice Tog and bass. We saw a large male the size of a Nassau Grouper was amazing. She missed the shot, and in hindsight we are both happy he was just out of range. If you see that guy, let him keep doing what he does.....V.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Went Jamestown on Saturday, on incoming tide. Mixed visibility 6-10ft, and plenty of bass! Big guys are around. Shot 25# slob on a first drop and saw more later.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Newport, Sachuest pt. this morning on incoming tide - visibility 4-6ft. Tautogs, scups, small stripers. Hard to find bigger fish in murky water. Not great water condition.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
WH/RI shoreline 3 toug all just shy 4# and a BSB. Vis was good enough to shoot fish. Saw some stripper that may have been 28 so passed. RRED up 20 scup. Good day on the boat.
I’m out often and always looking for crew especially on weekdays. |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Newport on Saturday morning 5ft viz on the high tide down to soup at slack. Pretty sporty weather system.
Took home a pair of tog. Saw lots of bait, and very active schoolies. Felt a lot like fall. |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Visibility was shitty 4-6ft around Jamestown for last 3 weeks. It looked like storm brought some clear water yesterday, but it was not true. Still ~6ft today on high tide. Plenty of fish, but hard to aim. It is about time when big togs come out of the bay. Limited on fat togs and saw other species - stripers, blues, bsb, but shoot only togs. Hopefully we will have good fall.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
I went to Watch Hill Wednesday with my son and his friend at low tide. Visibility was a meh...6 feet or so. There were some togs and only a couple looked like they might be legal length. It is the first time that I’ve been in the water and not seen any stripers this year. Not a single schoolie between the three of us did we see. There was an R/R fisherman on the shore who said he had been there for three hours and not a single bite. We did have a nice picnic lunch by the lighthouse followed by some ice cream, so it was still a highly successful day.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
At a popular spot in Jamestown on Saturday morning. Clear up shallow, then haze, then around 6ft viz a bit deeper.
Limit of tog. Saw bsb and schoolies. It's amazing to me how far people will go (and climb) to take home a few 10inch scup and short togs. They reminded me of mountain goats scattered along the cliffs as we paddled by. |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Hit two spots near Mackerel Cove in Jamestown last Sunday, the 20th.
It was tough to find a spot not mobbed by boats or by heads on the shore, but once we got in the water things were just about perfect. Vis opened up to 20+ in some pockets and the togs were in thick. Not much bait in the water yet, and no sign of any keeper bass, but we took our time selecting our limit of tog. Will go down as the best conditions of the season for me. Highly recommend everyone tries to get out there! |
