Just wondering what some of your opinions are on my new roller gun I built
Built it using mostly Neptonics parts besides the ermes sub roller head.

Re: New 120 Roller Gun Build

Just trying to work out where the line wrap runs to after the forward line hook on the right hand side of the gun. Any problems with the shooting line unwrapping right behind the right hand roller?

The line wrap runs to the line release on the mech from there. And no problems at all with it coming undone its actually pretty tight.

Re: New 120 Roller Gun Build

I was thinking of where it runs as in meeting up with the line on the reel. The line goes from the spear forwards, then around and under the muzzle shield and back to the line release arm, where it then returns to wrap the forward right hand side line hook and back around to repeat another wrap length before returning to the forward hook. Now where to after that?

The reason I ask is that on some rollerguns, in order to keep the departing shooting line away from the back of the roller, an angled strap is employed extending the muzzle side shield rearward. This is not intended as a criticism, your gun looks very good, it is just a suggestion based on the front line wrap hook being at mid-stock height and not far back from the roller.

I have drawn the angled strut on your photo, you will just have to pretend we have X ray vision as the roller would normally obscure the strut, but here we can in a sense see right through it. Well I have had another go at it, this time angled further back.

Re: New 120 Roller Gun Build

The gun isn't really rigged for the reel right now its more for a float line. I rigged it so i could just clip the reel to the mono ring because i wasn't too sure if the person I chartered with was going to have an extra floatline.

And the muzzle shield is good idea I think i am going to make some up out of some teak I have laying around and epoxy them on the gun soon. Ive only shot the gun about 5 times hanging off my dock As it is about 20 degrees here in Massachusetts and took 2 shots with it at some wahoo in barbados. But so far have had no problems with the shooting line. But also have not tested it as much as i would have liked too. Just going to wait until it warms up here so i can dial it in.
