Fin blades breaking
I want to start this thread for the purpose of getting feedback regarding fin blades that break
It has occurred to me on two ocasions. I have Omer Millenium footpockets, and Omer plastic blades that are 1 month old. One blade broke at the midsection and I did not noticed until after swimming to come up. The reputable store I bought them from would not exchange it, claiming it was due to a giant stride water entry (I like scuba diving with freediving fins), they told me that this is the first time they see this happen. I did not argue as it was not worth the hassle but I am sure this might be a not so uncommon issue. I welcome sharing your experiences, thanks |

Re: Fin blades breaking
I see wear marks on mine like they've been at their limit a few times, but no break yet!

If you've had them less then a year, Omer should over them under warranty?? Contact them directly if the shop wont help you

i used to have the same fins. they are pretty much trash! i had blades break, the foot pockets split at the toes three times and its not cheap to replace those things. not to mention i dont like booties and i constantly had blisters. get some cressi gara 2000's they are amazing.

Re: Fin blades breaking
I have owned plenty of Omer Milliniums and Tunas (4 pairs)plus Riffes (Omers), I have always cracked them in the middle and mid way down. I have since switched to Edges. But care must be taken when entering the water. With your weight plus scuba gear this would bend the blades to their extremes.
Mark is a straight up guy from time to time, I'm glad he took care of you.

Re: Fin blades breaking
i've broke 3 blades on the Omer milleniums....they were all out of warranty.
foot pockets are stiff and painful. cressi garas are softer foot pocket and much nicer blade (i like the 3000s better) i use my 3000s for scuba...but i also freedive with them, that is pretty much what they were made for. i paid $100 for them through liesure pro a few years ago, dive shops charge $150+ not sure what LP sells them for now

Re: Fin blades breaking
Garas are pretty much indestructible....I have seen them break but it was after MANY years of hard abuse and the tip chipped off not the entire blade.
I believe jimdoe2you sells the fins...he is a member on SB send him a PM and I'm sure he can hook you up with garas. |

Re: Fin blades breaking
I've got a pair of the cressi garas 3000 size 42 -43 that I'll let go for $100. I bought them when I was in Hawaii and only used them 5 or 6 times. Let me know if you're interested

Calihiflo:
Thanks for the offer. One spero that dove off my boat yesterday uses Gara 2000 HF size 8 - 9 and he let me used them. I loved them and I am convinced. His were very tight even with thin socks, I need bigger size like 10-11, for my Omer footpocket I am using 43- 45. Thanks anyways. |

Re: Fin blades breaking
I've got a pile of Mares Avanti Fins alllllllll broken, every single one, literally a dozen.. The last pair only lasted 2 months. Now I'm done. That was it. They're super comfortable and I always used them for Water Photography and Shallow Water Spearfishing, but there's definitely something wrong with build.
