Re: BBO Official Rules Questions

John, as you and I discussed, we are going to have to exclude Red Snapper this year because the East Coast closure was extended a few days ago until December of this year. But, of course, our "wild card fish" concept helps make up for this loss as it did last November at the Key Largo Open. Tony

Re: BBO Official Rules Questions

Can you weigh in an amberjack and cobia - one as the jack/cobia and the other as the "wild card" fish?

Re: BBO Official Rules Questions

I was asking the question, because under the AJ/cobia category, it says only one jack or cobia can be weighed in (I think that was a carryover from previous tournaments before the wild card fish). Does that exclude bringing in an AJ and cobia - one for the AJ/cobia category and one for wild card?

If you read the wildcard description it can be any fish listed above except gag or black grouper.

Less than two weeks until this tournament. Again, please post any questions you have regarding the rules to this thread and they will be answered promptly!

What is the rules in relation to the daily bag limit? The weigh-in site is close to the 100 yards from State waters (possession of only one daily limit).

Under state regulations, you would exceed the daily bag limit with an AJ and wild card AJ, cobia and WC cobia, or two 30"+ cubera and a WC 30"+ cubera.

Is your total catch going to be limited to a single day State water bag limit?

You asked.

Only one cobia and jack is allowed. Regarding the Cuberas, you could theoretically bring in (2) 30" + cuberas under state and federal fishing rules.

Re: BBO Official Rules Questions

I clarified the post above by stating that you could have 1 cobia and 1 jack as long as one of those fish qualified for the wild card spot.

Barracuda can only qualify for a wild card spot.

Two cubera snapper are allowed over 30", but not 3 (if you would ever be so lucky to even get 2). In addition only 2 cuberas over 30" could be brought in by ONE BOAT! So, please do not have 2 or more 30" + cuberas brought in by your entire team as this is keeping with the boat limit guidelines set forth in the regulations. You could bring in 3 cuberas under 30" as long as one qualified for the wild card spot.

I apologize for the confusion but making sense of these constantly regulations can be baffling at times.

If you have any specific questions, just post to the thread and I will respond quickly.

Just making sure...

Only two Cubera's over 30" per boat (not per teamate or competitor) to be able to be weighed in on Sun.?

Thanks

Dylan

Hey Dylan,

Check out the rules right here yourself:

http://myfwc.com/docs/RulesRegulatio...mary_Chart.pdf

For Cubera Snapper it says:

May possess no more than 2 Cubera Snapper over 30" per harvester
or vessel per day, whichever is less. 30" or larger not included within
the Snapper aggregate bag limit.

Correct, this is a two day tournament, but we are not making it double bag limits for any species, including amberjack, cobia and cuberas over 30" as mentioned above.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but when you state "1 jack" in the post above are you speaking of specifically an Greater Amberjack (and maybe lesser since distinguishing between them might be near impossible) but would not include unregulated species such as yellow jack or jack crevalle.

In short could I weigh in:
- 0 cobia
- 1 amberjack
- 1 jack crevalle/yellow jack (wildcard)

I believe this is consistent with the interpretation and spirit of the rules which we are discussing.

Yes, that's fine. It's just one "Amberjack" that we are trying to clarify.
