Cedar Key report
We went out 20 miles to one of my favorite natural reefs that is in 40 fsw and was presently surprised. This area was hit hard with the red tide and was like a ghost reef for a long time. Normally, there are so many fish that the numbers would be staggering then the tide hit. But boy, what a rebound!
We were pole fishing and put in the boat over a dozen healthy red grouper, most being short but just to see the numbers was so encouraging. We loaded the cooler with a mixed bag of fish. The noticeable absence of gag grouper was curious although they may have been in a little closer which is common at this time of the year. The water was almost dead calm without any windwave action. The water temp was 65 degrees and although the water had a greenish cast to it, you could plainly see the bottom. Plenty of baitfish for the locals to forage on. Hope you can make it out.
