Catalina B-day trip

Hey tomorrow is my birthday and a buddy of mine and I that dive, are heading to cat for day trip. I haven't dove there in 2 years, and I usually go out of two harbors. We are going to Avalon this time. I semi looked into the MPA's, just wondering if anyone can give me a general dive entry point once we get off the ferry. Im not looking for specific honey holes just a general dive spot semi close to the ferry. If I remember correctly you can dive near the rocks SE of where the ferrys moor up at outside the MPA in Lovers Cove. Can someone help me out please on the rules. Im not trying to go all the way north of Desconso with the gear, or rent kayaks to go over to Frog Rock., thanks. Short and Simple, lol.

Closed area until you go past ring rock beyond lovers cove. Best spearing is out at pebble beach along the drop off near the heliport restaurant for yellowtail and calicos..l have landed wsb among the boat moorings and along the kelp strips..
