If the DFG does do a survey, that would be a great opportunity to find out if there is a widespread dissatisfaction with the way the regulations are enforced.
Thanks!
The department did conduct a survey (see my post #9) albeit not ideal as it provided false choices to achieve the 25% reduction goal. However it did provide opportunity for the survey taker to provide input. DFW also held several focus groups (see post #10) and have done telephone polling in regards to getting feedback from the public. They want changes supported by the public. This link gives you a snapshot of why reductions need to be made http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/abalonestatus.asp You can contact Ian directly to let him know your views for achieving the reduction.

April 17-18 in Santa Rosa is when the biologists will present the options for the Commission to consider.

The secondary conversation following 2014 regulation is updating the ARMP to a long term abalone fishery management plan.

As for the licenses, we all want perforated tags, however the ALDS system does not perforate.

Tagging helps with enforcement. The tagging of an abalone came about because there are people out there who are not honorable nor trustworthy, primarily poachers.

There are more active and engaged conversations on this on the NorCal Underwater Hunters forum where you can learn about others views.
