The Big Bluefin are Here: 6/15/19

...The jumbo size Bluefin are within range currently. They are moving northward up the Ridge below San Clemente island. Hopefully, they will settle in to feed on baitfish just outside the island for the next few months. Some spots of 72 degree water bodes well for a local showing of Yellowfin also.. Wed-Fri looking good with 2 to 4' offshore swell and 1 to 2' inside Catalina channel.....Looking at Tempbreak, west of the 43 looks good...
...Am planning my budget to add a pair of stabilized Fuji binoculars ($1,000 on Amazon) to my offshore arsenal. Makes spotting birds and breaking surface tuna far more efficient than using the naked eye to search for fish off in the distance. Will be tying down a heavy duty deck chair on the roof for spotting until I can put a stainless hoop up and go first class...using a handheld vhf to communicate with wife doing downstairs steering duty... Thirty-seven years of this and she still hasn't traded me in for a younger man whose only hobby is bowling on Saturday nite and inhaling Viagra…..
...The 48 gallon bait tank, trolling lures, big reels and rods are fully rigged so we can do multi-fishing trips should the diving not be feasible for one reason or another...One rod is rigged with 100 lb. test line and 200# fluro leaders necessary for the 300 pounders should the opportunity arise. Am wishing I had a 120 gallon bait tank......wife's wish is: I get my ass in gear and quit diving alone...But, hey, I always carry 2 knives and a very big gun!...
...Anyway, this size of fish is a rare situation and one should go all out in preparation, as, it may not happen again for another 100 years.....What better Father's Day present than the arrival of 300 lb. Bluefin????

I’d love to get out there with you if you have the range! I can only get about 30 miles out in my 21’

See you out there Bob, some cows have already been speared out there, and a few on the kites.
