Postcards from Catalina:8/10/20

...Avalon now has a full harbor of power and sailboats, especially on weekends. Restaurants have been allowed to expand seating onto the beach areas. Masks are required in or near people. Violators can receive a $100 ticket for failure to follow the rules....Hotels are offering deals, including pay for 2 nites, receive a 3rd nite free...We booked for September at the Wrigley mansion and the Catalina hotel for a 7 day stay with 3 days of it for free..
...Fish wise, there are large yellowtail up the lower backside and on Farnsworth. Bluefin appearing just below Catalina on the 277 and surrounding areas. At San Clemente island, good bluefin catches offshore along the full stretch of the backside and down the ridge toward the 43 bank. Nice showing of marlin just below Catalina with a few swordfish in the mix...At Cortez Bank, there are giant yellowtail and Bluefin in the 50 to 100 lb. range...
...Avalon is facing a 2 million dollar plus loss in their budget at present...spend a few bucks when ashore and help out with their survival... Don't forget your mask..

and, buy my latest book, "How to Fake White Liberal Political Correctness when you are a Conservative"
...

Again, this is the problem with shutting down. Shut down and lose tax revenue and small businesses die. Keep open and take your chances with Covid. Breathe wisely. Going over on the 18th...Offshore fishing at San Clemente seems to have fallen off: https://www.sandiegofishreports.com/...tals/boats.php

Re: Postcards from Catalina:8/10/20

Several changes occurred at SCI...The military pushed the boats out due to the salvage efforts to recover deceased military personnel, the water temps cooled in many areas and, as we know, tuna move constantly, often as much as 20 miles in one day as they forage on a variety of bait...
...study the chloro patterns, water temps and wind direction to put you back on the fish as conditions return to normal...With all gamefish, it's here today, gone tomorrow, back next week...frustrating to say the least....
