Bar Harbor Maine area, worth bringing spearing gear?

Wife and I are heading to Acadia June 22, is there anything up there to spear? Any good entry spots for someone who is unfamiliar with the area? Probably can’t spear in the park but perhaps I could grab a 200lb halibut in one of the many coves that seem to dot the shoreline up there.
Thanks, Jeremy

given it's status and how slow the wheels of the government move when it comes to environmental issues, you better get up there fast - it might not be around for too long.

Re: Bar Harbor Maine area, worth bringing spearing gear?

Went years ago and drug my gear all the way from Texas. Search for past posts on info I sought. There is a beach access at Acadia NP. Looked very hunt-able around rock n cliffs n such. Kiddies were all swimming and playing but I planned on swimming out way away from them. BTW there is no salt water license requirement in Maine--just fresh. So I wiggle my Texas assets into a shorty wetsuit--it is July after all. Grab mask/snorkel, fins, gun, stringer and march out in the waaaaaaaater. Holy Mother of Mackerel!!! It was cooooold! I then realized the swimmers weren't kids but freakin' SMURFS running around in a joyous shade of blue! I would be hyper-thermic in 100 meters. I'd be shivering so badly I couldn't point my gun. I had anatomical portions sucked deep within my abdominal cavity where they definitely did not belong.

Have fun.

This link with map and information can guide all of your diving on Mt. Desert Island. I found it very helpful when I was there. Good luck.
