Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

Dove Newport on sunday 4/19, vis was decent (about 6-8 feet but very hazy). Water was still quite cold despite all the sun (49 on the surface, closer to 45 below 10'). Didn't see a single living fish over 2" although I did come across a dead 10" schoolie...I guess that's good news?

I'd feel a lot more promising about next weekend if the forecast for this week was better.

I don't even know, saw 3 of them together. They were 2" and maybe 3mm thick and entirely glassy. Also correction, sunday was 4/16^ don't know how I made myself think it was 4/19.

Looks like we lost an inch on Fluke and BSB in Massachusetts.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

Just dove off of Newport, saw some 1-2" fish in some shallow water. No sign of anything else. 12' visibility.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

I went off Newport yesterday before all of this rain rolled through. Landed a solid keeper and had a couple others rip off. Vis was 10' during rising tide, but went to 5' when the tide started to drop. Togs are around, but the ones I saw were skiddish and liked to hole up.

It's been dumping rain in Providence all day, so this weekend might have really bad visibility.

What do you consider upper bay? I've been thinking about jumping in near conimicit light but I'm unsure how the vis would be even on a good day

Echris50, we had dive in Prudence island area. Plenty of tog around structures, mostly small though (15-16 inches). I like Conimicut pt. this is a great spot for earlier season. I wouldn't expect any good viz, and storm is coming right now. Make sure you take small gun and flashlight might be helpful in rocks. Please keep an eye on a swell, I had a really unpleasant experience couple years ago, when was caught by outgoing swell and fought against current for 4 hours. Good luck and report results here, please.
