Re: California Spearos Lost and Found

I lost my riffe standard speargun today while diving in South Laguna. I took my eyes off it for just a minute while diving a piece of exposed reef and a few heavy swells came through and poof its gone.

It was loaded on safety and attached to 50' of yellow float line. The gun is normally neutral at 6-10 feet when attached to the float line. I can only assume that it has become trapped in the reef but don't understand how the float line is not making it to the surface. The reef is only about 20' deep.

No doubt it will be found during lobster season but by whom?
Reward offered.
Will provide additional details to the finder.

Thank you

That could have been the problem right there.
In the past when I have let go of my gun on the surface, it would slowly drift away depending on the current and tide (even in kelp). I have almost lost a few guns and floatlines letting go of it on the surface only to have it drift several hundred yards away while my attention was diverted. Good luck finding it, and I would keep an eye out where you lost it.
