Multi-wood Handle Oil Finish

So I just glued up a blank of goncalo alves for a 45-47" reef gun with a reel. I'm planning on setting it up with 2 14mm small id bands and a 130cm 7.5mm shaft. I'm terrible at getting a good epoxy finish so I usually stick to tung oil.

On this gun I was gonna go for my first attempt at a wood handle without a handle frame. I was curious if anyone has had experience using different woods for the handle on an oil finished gun. I heard there can be issues on using different woods in the blank due to bowing from different rates of expansion, but I was wondering if that was a problem with the handle. I was thinking it might add a little buoyancy as well since it's a denser wood.

As long as the woods are at a good low moisture level you should be fine. If they're still holding moisture the lams might try to come apart. I've done cedar and black locust for a handle before, two very different woods, and it came out fine.

I guess my biggest concern was if the tenon on the handle swelled much more than the blank it might try to split the lamps apart.
