Yes that's right. August if we are lucky, end of July most likely. For BI, that is.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Safeties, lol. I’ll pass.

We’ll have viz until August and then you can hang it up, unless we get some fantastic semi calm wind.

Water was filthy yesterday. I don’t think this weekend is going to produce much viz.

Used a buddies pneumatic finally and caused me to miss my first big fluke of the year. Wasn’t the ONE I’m looking for, but it was a good fish, 8+... Needless to say, I’ll deal with the size and current through my banded gun I think....

Re: Daily Vis report thread

This years been pretty good so far and lot like a return to “normal” vs last 5yrs or more of steaming hot miserable water. Hopefully it continues through the rest of the season. So far so good....I used to enjoy July and August

Barnaget is a seaweed/sandy 3-6ft. Had one hell of a day, going to be tough to top.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

You sure that bass was 28 inches? Looks like the smallest 28 inch bass iver ever seen. Especially when we can compare it to a 22 ish inch fluke. If that somehow barely makes 28 which I doubt do the bass let you pull out a tape in 3-6 ft viz and measure prior to firing?... I'm pretty sure slots are not allowed yet in 2018? Shoulda sealed the deal on some tautog too while you were at it

I think it was like 4 hours, but probably longer. I'm so stoked for dinner this week. Definitely going to have to try making ceviche.

Before anyone roasts me, yes thats a loaded gun in the picture on land, and to add to last week’s conversation, also no safety on this gun.

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Why is it loaded? For pictures sake? I don't get it...is it really that hard to unload? It's common sense. When you get out of the water unload. If your diving from a boat that's your own decision but all onboard have to be on same page. Personally I'd unload. It's one. Maybe 2 bands... but if your climbing up rocks and walking to do another drift this is a no brainier. If I see someone walking down a jetty with a loaded speargun I think I'd loose it. . As should the spear community as a whole. It's lazy. It's stupid. It's common sense. Too many innocent people walking around. If for some reason it did go off and u did have it down in a safe direction it could 1 fly out of control taking ur teeth out or 2 the spear could deflect off a rock and thru someone's foot or elsewhere. I'm sure many other horrible scenarios could come about..... As for a safeties I'm not going into that. Use one. Don't. I don't care. Just spread out if others are anywhere somewhat nearby diving. And even at that keep and maintain a safe distance from them and keep gun pointed down whole time.... Its common sense here. As is shooting a 28 inch bass.. common sense says hmm that's iffy. I'll wait . Could be 26 could be 28. Let me just wait.its not like there are not hundreds of other 32inch plus fish in and out that inlet or other inlets in NJ every day... Give yourself that buffer . Instead I bashed a guy for shooting a 25 inch bass. No way that fish in previous post was 28 inches. Look at it's head. Look at it compared to the fluke.... None the less you did it on a Sunday. How many rod and reelers saw ur micro bass? Common sense folks. Hate away on me now

why do i try? We all make mistakes, at least don’t roast the guy from three days ago, realize that the only way to know not to make a mistake is 9/10 times because it had been made first... everyone’s been there and shouldn’t act like they haven’t been once they aren’t there
