Wahoo spearing trip, anyone ?

Who wants to get together for a wahoo spearing trip with Bluewater? If we can get a group of 6 of us, it only costs around 300$ per person. Please let me know if you are interested

If you have never been it’s the trip of a life time! Bring backup gear, food, water, and bean bag! Also dry clothes for ride back in. It gets intense on these trips! Raw, epic, giants

I couldn't get off work. When does the normal wahoo season start? October? I would be down to book a trip now for then before it fills up

Apparently this one was cancelled and rescheduled for today.

I'm awaiting notification of the next scheduled trip, hopefully I can get on that one.

@holdfast what kind of extra gear would you bring?
Extra bouy? Extra float line+shaft?

Dave knows better than me but my opinion is that anything you have extra of (within reason) is worth bringing, at least for stuff that doesn't take up a lot of space like floatlines, shafts, rigging, inflatable buoys, etc. Now if you have 10 floats and lines etc don't bring em all but if you're like me and just have a handful of extra stuff it may be worth bringing the smaller more consumable stuff like shafts and rigging.

Most of the guys on the boat brought 2 guns, as many extra shafts as they owned/would fit in a 2" PVC pipe, and some extra rigging (make sure you are rigged with cable everything btw).

Don't get too carried away as space is limited but those fish will absolutely destroy gear.

Have fun!

Re: Wahoo spearing trip, anyone ?

There is a day trip set to go out on Sunday, 70 miles or so offshore.

I am planning to go on this one, room for 3 more divers if anyone here is interested.

My thoughts I would bring an extra gun, a couple shafts rugged and a extra floatline your running 100-200 miles off shore. And sharks are regularly seen. Cable is a Must! I’ve seen guns dropped, shafts bent, floatlines but in half, five masks knocked off, snorkels lost, dive knives dropped, fins broken, and wetsuits torn!

But don’t worry You’ll have a Blast!!! Just bring a gear bag extra gun and shaft. I always have an extra knife, mask, snorkel, wool socks (work Amazing for booties) floatline, extra shaft, and gun
