Freedive Watch/Computer - Suunto D4f vs Oceanic

Hey guys,

Looking to buy a freedive watch this weekend. Have narrowed down my choices to the suunto and the oceanic. Suunto D4f or the lastest Oceanic - I think its f.11 v2?

Would be great to get feedback on which you would recommend.

Will use for recreational freediving, spearfishing and some supervised freedive training.

Thanks very much

I would recommend my Cressi Drake above anything else. Especially if you want to use it for training too it will outperform the other two by far.

The suunto is going to be hard to beat. They are top of the line as far as I'm concerned. And I much prefer the F10 over the F11 it's more user friendly. But if I was to buy a new watch today it would be the Suunto.

You can get them off Subprof.com for much less then anywhere and I've made many orders from this company with excellent service.

Can't comment on the D4, I know friends who love it, the biggest issue comes down to whether or not you feel comfortable changing the battery, I think.

Re the F10 vs F11, I think I finally like the F11 better with the newest generation. It basically runs the same algorithm as the F10 now, they fixed that odd post dive screen that was on the earlier generations. Mostly, I just can't hear the F10 alarms through my hood, and the F11 is clear. I still use both. Would probably choose the newest F11 if I could only have 1.

I've been using a Suunto D6i for the last 1.5 years and love it. I just bought my wife a D4F and it has the exact same freedive features as the D6i. If you don't scuba dive the D4F is great and saves you $200 or so.

If you are looking for a great watch at an even better price point check out the salvimar one. its $199 and does everything you need a computer to do. Ive been using one for a while testing it and have been very happy.

the D4f is hands down the best computer in the market, it combines performance AND ergonomics/intuitive UI. which to me was important. you can save yourself a few bucks and grab another, but I can't comment on the ease of use.

Cheers.
