Northeast Florida Lionfish blast.

It was nice meeting a lot of you tonight at Mudville. I am excited to join such an awesome community of divers and wish I had more time to meet everyone that attended the meeting. Me and my two dive buddies, Ian and Katie (twin brother and sister), are new to the Jacksonville diving/spearing scene. Tonight was a great opportunity for us to break the ice with a lot of you and learn a lot about how things work offshore Jax. We're hoping to make our first dive this weekend with the native diver II through Atlantic pro divers so I can finish my advanced cert, (Katie and Ian already have theirs). If there's any pointers you have before we bring our own boat out after this weekend, all advice is appreciated!!!

Looking a little rough out there this weekend. I wasn't able to make it there tonight. Good luck with the tournament. Last year the weather was pretty bad all month long and I made it out 3x

Thanks for the kind words, we had a great time last night as well. Steve Parks will put you on some good spots, before you take your boat out I would get a top spots map. The numbers on there are pretty good. Work an area that has lionfish, if there are none in that area, move out a little deeper. We see them from 70ft to 130ft. Good Luck!

Re: Northeast Florida Lionfish blast.

Thank Mudville for the beer! Hope everyone tipped well.

Aaron, nice meeting you guys... Definitely get the top spots map, preload some numbers into your GPS, and you'll find all kinds of stuff on a calm day. You'll also find St Aug a little less crowded than Jax, so that may work in your favor until you get a good set of numbers built up. Unfortunately for you, people don't share their private numbers because it's too much work finding them, so you'll have to start with the public maps.
