Re: new NW WA member.
I dont care much for crab myself and dont pay to much attention.
But I have seen lots around Mukliteo and the Saratoga passage on the Whidbey side. Possession should have plenty as well. |

Re: new NW WA member.
Since nobody else has chimed in;
For whatever reason, the Sound is a tough place to get any spearing information. Too much granola??? Only place I've hit there was Mukilteo. A lot of divers coming and going there, but not so many gathering tasty critters. Found plenty of dungeness in about 30- 40'. Lots of red rock, also, but I've quit bothering those. Too much hassle, not enough meat. And they bite hard. Best of luck! Be sure to post a report. |

I know there is some great diving up there, but I just havent been able to put in the time to learn the tides and find the right spots. The only place up north I have been recently is Ebeys landing. There is a pretty good kelp bed just south of there. |

Re: new NW WA member.
There a few good spots on the lines near marine sanctuaries. Obviously dont go inside the marine sanctuary itself, dont fear the law, fear the scuba divers. Theyll have a go at ya for shooting there fish. But There a few good jetties near alki beach and theres also some pretty good inshore reefs that you can make it out to. The seasons are EXTREMELY limited and most zones in the puget sound rockfish are closed year round and lingcod are only open shortly during the summer months. That leaves perch and flatfish, which are in my opinion very tasty. But be careful where you shoot the flatfish because they get contaminated easily.
For specific spots try the jetty south of the edmonds underwater park and the jetty north of golden gardens. Hope I helped. |

Re: new NW WA member.
welcome to the board, Adam. Did you dive S Whidbey this weekend? I fished salmon Sat and Sunday. Fishing was too good to pass it up. Viz looked good though.
