Re: Abellan Denton Handle

I ordered 3 handles tonight, ended up being $56 each including postage. I am pretty happy with that, now I just need to do the handles justice and attach them to some nice spearguns.

Your time and photos are much appreciated spearq8!

I have never used the Neptonics reverse trigger. I cannot compare. He has his own reverse trigger but the trigger release and pull is butter smooth.

I think Spearq can compare the smoothness since he owned 80 guns. :toast

Do you have an Abellan gun? They only work with the gun and it's other components.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

I could be mistaken, but doesn't Sigalsub make Abellan's handles or do they just look similar?

At the very least, I think Abellan sell their handles as spare parts and some years ago, even encouraged people do use them for their own builds. I think they make two different versions with different mating/attachment ways.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

Abellan makes their own from a mold. Unless you utilize their trigger guard in the build or fabricate something custom it won't work. It screws in from the top. Victor has sold components to individuals for builds in the past. Very soon their handles will be getting another updating in both functionality and aesthetics.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

Maybe they have had different styles in the past that I don't know about. I am 99.9% sure that is no longer available though.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

Sigalsub does sell the same handle as the Abellan but in a shape made for wood guns ... I have a few of those. For a while I actually thought that Abellan had the handles made by Sigal for him, but now I am not so sure. The Abellan handle is completely different than the Sigal handle as it uses a "system" that works only with the Abellan. You need a special screw that goes in the handle ... and there are two cogs that mate into the SS plate and finger guard. Really not a useful handle for a gun build unless you plan to use the full system of the Abellan gun design and have the other parts. Of course you could use it ... but it would be difficult to implement without the other parts Abellan uses. I have built several guns using that system ... and man ... one mm off here or there and you are screwed!

Harry or Greekdiver is making new adjusted handles that are slightly rotated and made from a much stronger material ... functionally they should completely transform the gun. If I had one of the bigger Abellan guns that would be one thing I would really feel was a great upgrade. You could also just modify your existing handle ... but it involves some work.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

You could use the Sigalsub Handle. It looks to be quite similar. The Sigalsub Handle is made to be Mortised into a Wood or Composite Build. If you wanted to use a plate system, you could sand or saw it flush on the top and use a 3 point connection like you would find in Foregrips in the Tactical rifle market which is essentially like the Abellan connection. Without stressing about making the protrusions, you could use a Center Screw and then drill through the plate into the grip and place two stainless pins or composite dowels glued into the Grip with precision. Alternately, you could have a try at using this system I developed which is essentially based on Alexander Kalashnikov's Handle mount on the AK-47.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

Our handles are getting worked on this week. They should be ready in 2 weeks or less. They will be carbon fiber wrapped.

Sigalsub copied the Abellan handle design, and it appears many more are following suit.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

Copy is such a strong word. To my knowledge this very similar handle was made in 2000 by Giorgio Dapiran.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

The Abellan handle design is very different and was made around the same time. The way it attaches for high handle, the degree of twist, and the shape is very different than Dapiran. I have used a Dapiran before.

Btw, the guy from Sigalsub changed his handle a little bit after copying Victors exactly.

Re: Abellan Denton Handle

The Sigalsub handle is an identical copy ... even the little crevices to add friction are the same pattern. The top is different as it is made to go into a composite or wood body. What is strange is that the Sigalsub gun doesn't use that handle on their gun ... it is very different and no where near as good. The Sigalsub material is inferior to the Abellan material. It is much softer and will bleach for some reason. I CF wrap it just to be safe.
